  • YouTube is adding AI-assisted editing, draft feedback, and dynamic thumbnail testing to its creator tools.

  • Gemini-powered features will help edit Shorts and videos in YouTube Create.

  • YouTube is expanding AI-powered shopping and creator monetization features, including Amazon product tagging in India and Brazil.

Sep 24, 2026 - YouTube announced a series of AI-powered creator tools at its annual Made on YouTube event in New York on September 23. The updates span YouTube Studio, Shorts, and YouTube Create, with features aimed at helping creators analyze content, edit videos, and test different versions before publication.

YouTube Studio is receiving expanded Ask Studio capabilities, including feedback on unpublished videos. The AI can review pacing, structure, and storytelling, while also using channel data to explain performance and suggest improvements. Ask Studio is expanding to iOS and Android alongside the existing web experience.

The platform is also introducing Dynamic Thumbnails, which can test up to three thumbnail variations with different audience segments. YouTube said creators have already conducted more than 40 million title and thumbnail A/B tests, and it plans to allow testing of up to three different video cuts in the future.

In Shorts and YouTube Create, a Gemini-powered editing assistant will help with tasks such as trimming pauses, editing clips, and synchronizing music. YouTube is also testing conversational editing features that let creators make changes through natural-language instructions.

The company is expanding AI beyond editing. YouTube is testing opt-in AI comment moderation and expanding tools that detect potential misuse of creators’ voices and faces. It also plans real-time auto dubbing for live streams, with a pilot expected early next year.

On the commercial side, YouTube said its Shopping affiliate program will reach 35 countries by the end of 2026, with more than 1.3 million creators already enrolled. Creators in India and Brazil will soon be able to tag Amazon products in their videos.
